3 Months Pre-Mature Release for Cheri Dennis?

Posted in Bad Boy Records, Cheri Dennis with tags on November 7, 2007 by syncity

Cheri Dennis

I’ve received the following press release about her going on iTunes this Tuesday, November 13th, 2007. I love Cheri’s music but if u’re going on iTunes, at least have an internet video for your single “Portrait of Love“! Labels are so clueless on how to handle an artist. It takes more than a press release to make people BUY music. Anyway, this is what Bad Boy’s Marketing and Promotion Department sent me:

Bad Boy recording artist Cheri Dennis has unveiled details of her eagerly awaited debut album, “IN AND OUT OF LOVE.” The collection – which includes last year’s breakthrough single, “I Love You” – will be released digitally on the iTunes Store (www.itunes.com) on Tuesday, November 13th – a full three months before its physical release hits stores on February 26, 2008. “IN AND OUT OF LOVE” marks the first-ever major label R&B album to receive a three-month digital exclusive release via iTunes.
iTunes’ exclusive release of “IN AND OUT OF LOVE” is heralded by the selection of the Rodney Jerkins-produced album track, “Remind You,” as the iTunes Store’s “Single of the Week,” beginning today, November 6th. “I am extremely happy and proud of the Cheri Dennis album,” says Harve Pierre, President of Bad Boy Entertainment and Co-Executive Producer of “IN AND OUT OF LOVE.” “It’s been a long time coming and the timing couldn’t be better with this enormous iTunes promotion. Cheri will finally have the visibility that she needs and be recognized as an incredible soul singer.” A major-market promotional tour will follow the album’s release, with Cheri scheduled for a whirlwind of radio and press appearances across the country through December.
Along with the aforementioned tracks, “IN AND OUT OF LOVE” is highlighted by the much-anticipated new single, “Portrait of Love (Feat. Yung Joc and Gorilla Zoe).” The track – produced by Soul Diggaz (Beyoncé, Mary J Blige, Britney Spears) – will impact at multi-format radio outlets nationwide on December 3rd, with the just-completed companion video – directed by Petro (Rufus Wainwright, Kelly Clarkson) – slated to hit the iTunes Store and all major video outlets the week of November 20th.
With her striking looks and knock-you-out vocals, Dennis was discovered and immediately signed in New York by Bad Boy founder and CEO Sean “Diddy” Combs himself after she impressed him with an impromptu live performance. Cheri’s first single, “I Love You” – produced by Ryan Leslie (Beyoncé, Snoop Dogg, Cassie, JoJo), proved one of 2006’s most popular R&B releases, reaching the Top 40 on Billboard’s “Hot R&B/Hip Hop Singles & Tracks” chart.
Dennis followed that out-of-the-box success with “Ooh La La,” which was featured as the theme song to MTV’s smash series, Making The Band 3. In addition, Cheri has appeared on a wide range of albums from such superstars as Diddy, Danity Kane, Faith Evans, Ma$e, and Yung Joc, all the while continuing work on her Bad Boy debut album.
Close to two years in the making, “IN AND OUT OF LOVE” sees Cheri Dennis revealing herself to be much more than just a powerhouse vocalist. The singer co-wrote many of the album’s songs, working in collaboration with some top studio superstars, including Timbaland (Justin Timberlake, M.I.A., Kanye West), Mario Winans (Diddy, Whitney Houston, The Notorious B.I.G.), and others.

Do you think it’s a smart move?

Diddy Smacked Man Over Woman Part III: F***ing for Tracks?

A highly placed source exclusively tells Bossip that the girl Diddy was fighting over in a club last week was Cassie, not the alleged victims girlfriend as has been rumored. The well positioned source says The NY Post got which girl the fight was over wrong:

“Steve’s girlfriend Julie told them it was about her to get her name in the paper”

Bossip was the first media outlet to report that Cassie was fu*kin for tracks with Diddy last year. Oh yeah, Cassie has a new album dropping later this year.

Now, to my knowledge, Ryan Leslie, was originally Cassie’s boyfriend. What’s crazy is that Ryan met her as a model and turned her into a “singer”. At the time, Ryan was signed to Diddy as a producer. Me and some of my friends made a bet that she would dump Ryan within a year or two for somebody famous…. Guess some of the rumors might be true? We don’t know for sure!

Diddy Smacked Man Over Woman

Diddy

Sean “Diddy” Combs allegedly socked a man twice in the face after they’d jawed at each other at a SoHo afterparty early yesterday, police sources said.
His Diddyness was holding court with pals and bodyguards at Kiosk, on Spring Street, at around 3:30 a.m. when he got into an argument with an acquaintance, Steven Acevedo, over a woman.

This is not Diddy’s first violent dust-up while out on the town. Last February, he allegedly punched out a man in an argument over a woman at an Oscars afterparty in Hollywood. No charges were filed.
