Diddy bringing A Raisin in the Sun to ABC

A Raisin in the Sun, the famous play by Lorraine Hansberry, is being adapted as a three-hour ABC TV movie starring and executive produced by Sean Combs, who has reunited the recent Broadway cast. The movie will also feature Phylicia Rashad, Audra McDonald, John Stamos and Sanaa Lathan (Stamos spoke with our own Joel Keller about it here). Hansberry’s play, which was the first written by an African-American to be produced on Broadway, centers on a black family in Chicago who anxiously await an inheritance of ten thousand dollars. The cast have all appeared in the Broadway version, which garnered Tonys for Rashad, McDonald and Lathan. The TV movie is being executed produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Chicago) along with Combs. The movie will debut on ABC Feburay 25th 2008.

A Raisin in the Sun was also made into a movie in 1961, featuring the original Broadway cast.

It will be unveiled on January 21st and ready to be bought in spring. You will be able to splurge from approximately $2,070 to $621,000 to get your Star Trak on. Woohoo!

EXCLUSIVE NEWS: Jigga’s 40/40’s Opening in Vegas Canceled? NOT!

Ok, I’ve been reading rumors from Perez Hilton that the 2 night celebration scheduled on December 30th for the opening of his new extended franchise restaurant & bar 40/40 in Vegas, might not be happening due to failure of passing inspection on time for the event. That rumor came around the 28th. Now, I did see pictures floating around from the concert he did last night on the 29th from the Pearl’s in The Palm’s Hotel. I’m not sure how hard is to get another inspection done or if mister jiggaman, a very powerful celebrity, could have just made it rain on them hoez on some straight american gangster style and payed-off that process (which i wouldn’t doubt is possible), but I believe it wouldn’t stop his plans. Make sense?
I’ve also received this email from UrbanWorld shutting down the rumors:
