Hip-Hop Paintings

“The whole hip hop collection has already been bought by a private collector for 2.2 Million dollars!” Says 50 Cent’s DJ, Whoo Kid. Isn’t that beautiful? Mr. Melamid’s (music video director Dan the Man’s father) career seem renewed. Among the obvious signs is his first solo show, “Holy Hip-Hop!,” which opened recently at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. It gathers a dozen portraits of men in the hip-hop world, including the entrepreneur Russell Simmons, the fashion designer and graffiti champion Marc Ecko, and the rappers Kanye West, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent. It is slated to be on a museum tour and will be displayed at the All-Star Gallery Show in London, UK.

Madonna to Collab with Kanye and Pharrell for Next Album

Madonna

Madonna is naming her next album “Licorice”. When is this lady going to retire? LOL Isn’t she in her 40’s already? Wow it amazes me. But hey good music is good music. Speaking of which, she has Kanye West and Pharrell on board. This isn’t the first time she has tapped the “urban” (now considered pop) producers, remember her past album “Bedtime Stories” with Babyface and Dallas Austin on the project? I recall her calling them immature due to their tardiness. LOL See here why Madonna is/was so fascinating:

Gotta love the Kanyeezy Feature on this too!

Check her MySpace!

Here’s the debut video for female rapper Kid Sister directed by Ruben Fleischer. The song is called “Pro Nails” and it features Kanye West. We’re really digging the song and video. Kid Sister reportedly made this video for three thousand dollars (!) and it looks better than some big budget videos.

Mos Def and Kanye West

NEW YORK (Billboard) – Rapper Mos Def is working on his debut release for indie label Downtown Recordings, after his major-label swan song died a quick death last year.

According to Downtown head Josh Deutsch, Kanye West will produce some tracks on the as-yet-untitled record. Mos Def recently appeared on the track “Drunk and Hot Girls” from West’s new album, “Graduation.”

Deutsch said Downtown has no plans to reissue Mos Def’s last release, “Tru3 Magic.” The Geffen Records set was pushed back numerous times and eventually appeared with no fanfare in late December. It has sold just 86,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Although he didn’t appear in a film in 2007, Mos Def has no less than eight movie roles pending through 2009, including an appearance in the Danny Glover-directed “Toussaint.”

Emotions: Kanye West Breaks Down On Stage

Posted in Kanye West with tags , on November 19, 2007 by syncity

Kanye West performed his first show since his mother Donda West’s passing last night at the Le Zenith venue in Paris. He broke down as the song “Hey Mama” started playing and a back-up singer, the DJ, and a guitar player came over to console him.

He reportedly said, “This song is for my mother,” and did not finish the sentence. The rapper then left the stage and returned 10-15 minutes later and finished up the concert with “Stronger.”

We can’t imagine what Kanye must be going through. We give him credit for going out and performing so soon after his mother’s death. Stay strong ‘Ye.
