Hip-Hop Paints A Picture

“The whole hip hop collection has already been bought by a private collector for 2.2 Million dollars!” Says 50 Cent’s DJ, Whoo Kid. Isn’t that beautiful? Mr. Melamid’s (music video director Dan the Man’s father) career seem renewed. Among the obvious signs is his first solo show, “Holy Hip-Hop!,” which opened recently at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit. It gathers a dozen portraits of men in the hip-hop world, including the entrepreneur Russell Simmons, the fashion designer and graffiti champion Marc Ecko, and the rappers Kanye West, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent. It is slated to be on a museum tour and will be displayed at the All-Star Gallery Show in London, UK.

Snoop Cartoon on Comedy Central

The Comedy Central network on Wednesday (March 12) announced that it has ordered a pilot of a new animated comedy series featuring Snoop Dogg for the 2008-2009 season. According to Variety, the as-yet untitled show will chronicle the adventures of a 15 year-old Snoop growing up in 1980’s Long Beach. The project will be executive produced by the rapper and Tom Lynch, who helmed Class of 3000, Andre 3000’s animated series. “We’ve been looking to get into business with Snoop, who’s always fantastic on our roasts,” said Lauren Corrao, Comedy Central’s senior VP of programming and development. “He’s one of those people who truly crosses over between music and comedy.” The show is one of many new series that the network hopes to pick up for full runs in the coming year. In related news, Snoop’s new album Ego Trippin’ hit stores on this week.

This is definately creative and an odd choice for a labeled Ganster Rapper such as Snoop but I like it. The song is dope. I can replay it on repeat for hours and not get annoyed. Umm…maybe…I don’t know! I haven’t tried it. But you get the point! Two Thumbs Up!!

Snoop’s Reality Show Debuts December 9th 2007 on E!

Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood is set to premier on E! on December 9, 2007 at 10:30pm. This is a new reality series focused on Snoop Dogg as a father and rapper and how he balances his music career and raising his three kids. Watch the funny commercial they have been airing to promote the series.
